Liquid Computing Demonstrates World Leading Results for STREAM Benchmark
LiquidIQ™ Proves it is Best in Class
Los Altos, CA & Ottawa, Canada – May 29, 2007 – Liquid Computing Inc., a developer of a new class of scalable computing system, announced today that its LiquidIQ™ server has demonstrated world leading results for the STREAM Benchmark for 4 socket Second-Generation AMD Opteron processor-based servers. Using the latest AMD Opteron processors Model 8220 from AMD (NYSE:AMD), LiquidIQ’s Compute Modules can provide more than 20,000 Megabytes per second on all of the STREAM Benchmark Bandwidth measurements, which exceeds the best posted industry results.
STREAM is a widely used industry standard benchmark that measures real world sustainable memory bandwidth in high performance computers. Customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, business intelligence, and rendering and visualization applications requiring intense performance capabilities will achieve unparalleled performance on LiquidIQ due to its unique system design. Processor, memory, interconnect interface, switch fabric and I/O cards are incorporated into the LiquidIQ™ architecture delivering sustained performance levels that cannot be achieved with commodity-off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
"The AMD Opteron processor with Direct Connect Architecture was designed to provide world-class performance for our customers,” said Pat Patla, director, Server/Workstation Marketing at AMD. “Liquid Computing has challenged and extended the STREAM Benchmark performance for AMD Opteron processor-based servers. As a result, LiquidIQ can provide outstanding solutions for optimized performance in memory-intensive customer applications.
LiquidIQ™ is a performance optimized computing design that supports industry standard Linux and Windows application environments with guaranteed communications bandwidth and low latency across the entire system. LiquidIQ provides performance, flexibility and manageability capabilities significantly beyond those offered by standard rack mount or blade based servers.
“As processor speeds continue to increase, so does the need for sustainable memory bandwidth requirements,” said Tim Kent, Vice President of Engineering at Liquid Computing. “LiquidIQ’s STREAM Benchmark results demonstrate that our technology is uniquely positioned to deliver maximum ROI for memory bandwidth constrained applications.”
